KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): In our cover story this week, we look at the SS16 neighbourhood in Subang Jaya. Zoned as a commercial area, it houses commercial and office developments such as Subang Parade mall, Nu Empire Shopping Gallery, Menara Mesiniaga, AEON BiG Subang Jaya, Wisma Consplant 1 and Wisma Consplant 2. Over the years, its landscape has changed as more serviced apartments come up in the area.

Real estate consultants Nawawi Tie Leung Sdn Bhd managing director Eddy Wong and PA International Property Consultants (KL) Sdn Bhd managing director Subramaniam Amurugam dives deep into the prospects of SS16, as new and upcoming developments such as Sime Darby Property Bhd’s (KL:SIMEPROP) Subang Jaya City Centre is expected to boost the area.

In the same issue, we have a Designworks story on Malaysia’s tallest building — Merdeka 118. Designed by Melbourne-based Fender Katsalidis Architects, Merdeka 118 was designed as a major monument, marking the celebrated moment and place where Tunku Abdul Rahman declared an independent Malaya on Aug 31, 1957.

There is also The Edge Malaysia | Knight Frank Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Office Monitor 1Q2024, where Knight Frank Malaysia executive director of research and consultancy Amy Wong and executive director (office strategy and solution) Teh Young Khean highlight the growing demand of premium and environmentally sustainable office spaces, driven by “flight to quality” and “flight to green” trends.

Check out also, the article on the Building Management Associations of Malaysia seminar titled “Building Management Series 2 — Sustainability and Practical Challenges”, which looks at how property management is needed to help preserve and maintain buildings, so that they can stay functional and relevant in years to come.

From our sister publication, The Edge Singapore, are two articles — one is on a report by Knight Frank Singapore on the prime office rental growth, while the other is on the sale listing of a Good Class Bungalow belonging to former oil tycoon and founder of Hin Leong Trading, Lim Oon Kuin aka OK Lim.
