KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): Penang-based Arka Bhd (KL:ARKA), formerly known as Transocean Holdings Bhd, has appointed Au Foong Yee as the group’s independent and non-executive director effective Wednesday.

Au, 67, is currently an independent and non-executive director of construction group Inta Bina Group Bhd (KL:INTA), Arka’s filing showed.

Au is replacing Rajagopal Ramadhass, who retired less than 10 months after he helmed the post.

Notably, Au is also the editor emeritus of The Edge Malaysia after retiring from her position as founding managing director and editor-in-chief of The Edge Property Sdn Bhd, which owns property portal EdgeProp.my.

“Au tracks closely and analyses the Malaysian real estate — something she has been doing since 1994. She conceptualised The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards, The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards and the Haven My Dream Home Awards organised by The Edge Malaysia,” it said.

Au, who is a regular speaker and moderator at property forums, was a member of the inaugural panel of experts (POE) at the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

Shares of Arka closed unchanged at RM1.98 on Wednesday, valuing the group at RM128.89 million. The counter has grown 16.5% since the beginning of this year.
