KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese Premier Li Qiang witnessed the exchange of 14 documents during Li's three-day official visit to Malaysia, which concluded on Thursday.
The exchange of the documents, covering various areas of interest, also showcased the enhanced cooperation between the two nations over the past five decades.
As stated in the joint statement between the Republic of China and Malaysia on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership towards China-Malaysia community with a shared future released on Thursday, the documents are:
Li arrived in Malaysia for an official three-day visit on Tuesday, the third and last leg of his eight-day tour that had taken him to New Zealand and Australia.
His visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, following the signing of the joint communiqué between second Malaysian prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and then Chinese premier Chou En Lai on May 31, 1974.
