KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): Talam Transform Bhd's (KL:TALAMT) shares were among the most actively traded on Wednesday, following the passing of its major shareholder Tan Sri Chan Ah Chye.

The counter saw 85.4 million shares change hands by market close, making it the 10th most active on Bursa Malaysia. Despite the high trading volume, shares of Talam closed unchanged at two sen, valuing the company at RM64.43 million.

Tan Sri Dr Chan Ah Chye, major shareholder and director of the property developer, passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 78.

In a bourse filing, Talam Transform confirmed the demise of Chan, who was its non-independent and non-executive director — a post he was redesignated to in 2009. Prior to that, Chan, who joined the group's board on Nov 6, 1990, was the group's executive chairman.

Chan was also the executive director and former major shareholder of Kumpulan Europlus Bhd, now known as WCE Holdings Bhd (KL:WCEHB).
