KUALA LUMPUR (June 6): Bursa Malaysia and FTSE Russell announced on Thursday that Sunway Bhd (KL:SUNWAY) will replace AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMBANK) on the country’s benchmark FBM KLCI.

The change in the 30-stock index will take effect at the start of business on June 24, following a semi-annual review, the exchange operator and the index provider said in a joint statement. The next review will take place in December 2024, they said.

AMMB will then be part of the FBM KLCI reserve list, comprising five largest non-constituents of the index by market capitalisation, including Dialog Group Bhd (KL:DIALOG), Gamuda Bhd (KL:GAMUDA), IOI Properties Group Bhd (KL:IOIPG) and Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (KL:AIRPORT).

"The reserve list will be used if one or more constituents are removed from the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI in accordance with the index ground rules during the period up to the next semi-annual review," they said.

Alongside the change in FBM KLCI, Bursa Malaysia and FTSE Russell also announced nine constituent changes to the FBM Mid 70 Index and one constituent change to the FBM Hijrah Shariah Index.

New inclusions to the FBM Mid 70 Index inlcude AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd (KL:AEONCR), AMMB, IGB Real Estate Investment Trust (KL:IGBREIT), IJM Corp Bhd (KL:IJM), IOI Properties, Mega First Corp Bhd (KL: MFCB), Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust (KL:PAVREIT) , Sime Darby Property Bhd (KL:SIMEPROP) and Sunway Construction Group Bhd (KL:SUNCON).

These companies will be replacing AEON Co (M) Bhd (KL:AEON), Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTRO), Berjaya Corp Bhd (KL:BJCORP), Dagang NeXchange Bhd (KL:DNEX), Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd (KL:HIBISCS), Ta Ann Holdings Bhd (KL:TAANN), TSH Resources Bhd (KL:TSH), Uchi Technologies Bhd (KL:UCHITEC), and Sunway, which has been promoted to the FBM KLCI.

Meanwhile, Inari Amertron Bhd (KL:INARI) will replace Greatech Technology Bhd (KL:GREATEC) on the FBM Hijrah Shariah Index.
