KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETDAG), the marketing arm of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), has appointed Azureen Azita Abdullah as its new chief operating officer (COO), effective June 1.
Azureen, 47, replaces Khalil Jaffri Muhammad Muri, who has resigned from the post due to staff mobility within Petronas Group, according to PetDag’s filing on Tuesday.
Khalil, 50, helmed the COO post at PetDag for almost two years since he was appointed in September 2022.
Azureen previously served as Petronas general manager for downstream digital and innovation. Prior to this, she had served PetDag as head of retail sales and operations in 2016 and later promoted to general manager for the same division in 2018.
Azureen holds a materials science and engineering degree from Swansea University in the UK.
Earlier Tuesday, PetDag said its net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 fell 25% to RM226.04 million from RM301.84 million in the previous year, mainly due to higher product costs and operating expenditures. Quarterly revenue rose 8.65% to RM9.39 billion from RM8.65 billion.
Shares in PetDag finished 48 sen or 2.27% lower at RM20.70, valuing the group at RM20.56 billion.
