KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): RHB Banking Group has launched Apple Pay for its customers in Malaysia.
In a statement on Tuesday, the bank said customers with RHB Visa Debit and Credit Cards/-i — including the RHB Multi-Currency Visa Debit Card/-i that enables customers to transact up to 33 currencies at any time, with no conversion currency fees — can add and use their cards with Apple Pay.
RHB Banking Group group managing director/group chief executive officer Mohd Rashid Mohamad said the Apple Pay initiative creates a seamless and secure digital banking experience.
“This initiative aligns with our commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our customers,” he said.
Mohd Rashid said every Apple Pay purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code.
He said Apple Pay is accepted at grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores and many more places.
Mohd Rashid said customers can also use Apple Pay on their iPhone, iPad and Mac to make faster and more convenient purchases in apps or on the web in Safari without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information.
He said Apple Pay makes it easier to pay for food and grocery deliveries, online shopping, transportation, and parking, among other things. Apple Pay can also be used to make payments in apps on Apple Watch.
Secure Element, an industry-standard, certified chip is designed to store one’s payment information safely on the device.
Mohd Rashid said that in conjunction with this new payment development, RHB is offering a limited-time cashback campaign that enables customers to earn up to RM30 cashback when they use their RHB card with Apple Pay three times, with a minimum purchase of RM50 on each transaction.
This offer is valid until July 31 and applies to in-store and online purchases.
