KUALA LUMPUR (May 16): Asset management company Eastspring Investment Bhd (EIMY) has appointed Yap Siok Hoon as its chief executive officer (CEO), effective May 15.
EIMY said Yap will be reporting to Faizal Gaffoor, deputy regional CEO at Eastspring Investments.
Yap has more than 26 years of financial industry experience, including the past 11 years at EIMY, where she last led as head of distribution.
Prior to joining EIMY, Yap began her career at Hong Leong Asset Management in April 1997, rising through the ranks to become general manager of the client solutions group.
“Since joining Eastspring in 2013, Siok Hoon has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a great understanding of our business. She has strengthened our local institutional business and grew our distribution channels to expand customer reach,” said Eastspring Investment CEO Bill Maldonado in a statement on Wednesday.
“Her focus on customer centricity, determination in delivering excellence as well as her close engagement with local industry bodies position her well to lead our Malaysian business,” Maldonado added.
Before her tenure at Eastspring, Siok Hoon was the head of the retail client solutions and services group at a prominent Malaysian fund management company, where she managed the retail unit trust business.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, EIMY is one of the leading asset management companies in Malaysia.
It serves a diverse clientele, including both institutional and retail investors, and manages RM62.2 billion in assets as of Dec 31, 2023. The company’s offerings include unit trust funds, wholesale funds and private mandates.
