KUALA LUMPUR (May 10): Tan Sri Azam Baki's contract as chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has been extended for another year, starting this Sunday (May 12).

The King has consented to the extension of his contract, said chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali in a statement on Friday.

Azam was first appointed to the post on March 9, 2020 for a three-year tenure, succeeding Latheefa Koya who resigned from the position following the fall of the former Pakatan Harapan ruling government after the Sheraton Move. Before that, he was her deputy chief commissioner.

Last year, his tenure as MACC chief was extended for one year and was to end this Sunday.
