KUALA LUMPUR (April 30): Integrated circuit (IC) design service provider Oppstar Bhd is collaborating with South Korea’s tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd for the production of industrial ICs manufactured using Samsung’s 14 nanometre (nm) FinFET technology foundry process.
However, no details were given on the collaboration.
Both parties are also desirous to explore cooperation on any other future projects that may arise, which align with their mutual business interests and capabilities. This encompasses exploring new opportunities and leveraging each other’s strengths to enhance their business partnership, Oppstar said in a statement on Monday.
Oppstar executive director and co-chief executive director Cheah Hun Wah said this collaboration will enable Oppstar to assist its customers to bring to market specialised chips that are in significant demand.
“We will be able to better support our customers by providing chip manufacturing services in addition to IC design and post-silicon validation services, for the chips to be fabricated by Samsung,” he added.
Oppstar’s share price settled unchanged at RM1.25, bringing the stock a market capitalisation of RM800 million.
The company was listed in March last year with an initial offering price (IPO) of 63 sen. Compared to its IPO price, the stock has almost doubled its value.
