KUALA LUMPUR (April 25): Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), the state-owned company in charge of the 5G network infrastructure rollout, on Thursday named five new board members, comprising senior leaders from the telecom and technology industries.

CelcomDigi Bhd nominated its chief transformation officer Datuk Kamal Khalid while Maxis will have its independent director Uthaya Kumar K Vivekananda on the board, DNB said in a statement.

U Mobile Sdn Bhd’s director Chang Yit Fei, Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s group counsel Nik Azli Abu Zahar, and YTL Power International Bhd’s managing director Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong will also join the board, it said.

The appointments are effective April 24, 2024, DNB said.

“DNB looks forward to obtaining valuable input and direction from the newly constituted board in driving the advancement of Malaysia's digital infrastructure and the adoption of 5G technology across industries, enterprises, the public sector and consumers,” the company said.

The appointments follow share subscription agreements signed between DNB, Ministry of Finance Inc, and five mobile network operators on Dec 1, 2023.

The five will join incumbent members Treasury Secretary General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican and Digital Ministry Deputy Secretary General Ma Sivanesan Marimuthu on the board of the company, it said.
