KUALA LUMPUR (April 19): Financial services provider MIDF has reported a recent cyber security incident to relevant authorities and is collaborating closely with them on addressing the matter.

In a brief statement issued on Friday, MIDF affirmed that it takes the cyber security incident seriously and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the privacy and security of customers' information.

MIDF assured that there has been no significant disruption to its services due to the incident.

"We have promptly isolated the incident and implemented immediate corrective measures to minimize potential impact, including notifying the affected customers," the statement read.

Furthermore, MIDF stated that it has bolstered its security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to strengthen the data security framework, policies, systems and processes.

However, MIDF did not provide additional details regarding the cyber security incident.

Earlier in April, it was reported on a news portal that a ransomware group claimed responsibility for the cyberattack on MIDF. The hackers also took to social media platforms to urge potential buyers to acquire exclusive and sensitive data.

MIDF advised its customers to remain vigilant and exercise caution in protecting personal information, urging them to be wary of unfamiliar or unsolicited sources, including phishing attempts with suspicious links.
