KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): Bursa Malaysia announced that both the securities market and derivatives market will be opened under normal trading hours on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, moving away from its previous practice of having half-day trading ahead of major festivals.

However, there will be no T+1 Night Trading session for the derivatives market on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

According to its statement on Monday, the stock exchange and its subsidiaries will be closed for the first and second days on Hari Raya Aidilfitri, with the exact date subject to the official announcement by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal.

If the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on Wednesday (April 10), Bursa and its subsidiaries will be closed for Wednesday and Thursday (April 11), before resuming operations on Friday (April 12).

However, if the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on Thursday (April 11), Bursa and its subsidiaries will be closed for Thursday and Friday, before resuming operations next Monday (April 15).

The Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal is set to announce the date for Hari Raya Aidilfitri on Tuesday (April 9).
