KUALA LUMPUR (April 14): Radium Development Bhd strives to be an asset-light and city-centric developer, focusing on development projects with a fast turnaround in the Klang Valley, particularly in mature locations with existing amenities.

With only one upcoming project in Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur this year, the developer is on the lookout for potential pocket land in the Klang Valley, while continuing to explore new business venture opportunities for the company’s diversification of business and revenue streams.

“As much as we are clear and certain about our market positioning — to be a city builder — we cannot put all our eggs in one basket. So, when this opportunity arose, we happily explored the potential,” said Radium Development Bhd group managing director Datuk Gary Gan.

In this issue of City and Country, we covered the “Asia Pacific Leasing Market Sentiment Index — March 2024” report released by CBRE recently. The report concluded that major markets reported positive leasing sentiment for March, with sentiment in Japan strengthened even more, which was mostly attributed to the retail sector, and Mainland China and Hong Kong were the only markets to report a negative sentiment, indicating that more time will be needed for these markets to recover.

We also featured Pentago House in Jalan Rotan in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur. Built in 1912 by influential business tycoon Loke Yew, the building was restored in recent years and is now the office of master planning, architecture and landscape design consultancy Pentago Group of Companies, which purchased it in 2015.

We also carried a story about a Tanglin Park unit sold for a profit of S$2.7 million from our Singaporean counterpart.
