KUALA LUMPUR (April 3): Technology services provider HeiTech Padu Bhd has appointed Salmi Nadia Mohd Hilmey as the group managing director (MD), effective Wednesday.

Salmi, 42, was promoted to group chief executive officer (CEO) in October last year to replace her father Datuk Seri Mohd Hilmey Mohd Taib, who stepped down from his position due to “personal commitment”. However, he remained as the group’s executive deputy chairman.

Mohd Hilmey holds a 3.82% direct stake and a 14.06% indirect stake in the company through its private vehicle Padujade Corp Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, Salmi has been with HeiTech since 2007 and has held numerous positions in the company over the past 17 years, including special assistant to the group CEO, corporate development and risk management director, risk management and corporate services executive vice president, and group chief operating officer (COO), according to the group's filing.

Separately, HeiTech also appointed Sandraruben Neelamagham as its new executive director and Datuk Mohd Jimmy Wong Abdullah as the group’s non-independent and non-executive director.

Sandraruben, 37, is well versed in a variety of legal practices and is currently the managing partner at Messrs Ahmad Daniel, Ruben & Co.

Mohd Jimmy, 61, is currently the non-independent and non-executive director at MyEG Services Bhd. He began his career with the Royal Malaysian Police, starting off as a new recruit. In 1994, he was stationed on a two-year diplomatic mission in Wisma Putra in Guangzhou, China until 1996.

Shares in HeiTech settled up six sen or 3.3% to RM1.88 on Wednesday, valuing the group at RM190.3 million. The counter has seen heavy buying interest, surging 111.24% year to date.

Last month, HeiTech announced that it had secured a contract extension worth RM13.11 million for the provision of maintenance services to the Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs).

This came shortly after MyEG emerged as a substantial shareholder in HeiTech following the acquisition of a 14.4% stake.
