KUALA LUMPUR (March 29): The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) reelected Raymond Lew president at its 50th annual general meeting, held on Wednesday (March 27).

In a statement on Friday, LIAM said Lew, who is also the chief executive officer (CEO) and president of Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Bhd (SLM), will be supported by AIA Bhd’s CEO Ben Ng as LIAM’s new vice-president for the 2024/2025 term.

“Lew is a transformational leader who pioneered and grew SLM’s distribution, marketing and analytics operations, driving client experience and the digital transformation agenda.

“He steered the expansion of the partnership network, the development of insurance specialists, and other new distribution channels, all of which have led to the company’s impressive business transformation,” it said.

Lew joined SLM as the chief distribution officer in 2013, bringing over 30 years of financial experience as the CEO and president of the company.

Meanwhile, Ng has 30 years of experience in demonstrating his depth and breadth of knowledge in the life insurance industry.

“Ng is one of the very few Asian actuaries who has qualified as a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society.

“He has also led AIA to achieve transformational growth across its distribution channels, supported by the company’s distinctive digital capabilities, and innovative and customer-centric health and wealth propositions,” LIAM said.

LIAM said Ng joined AIA in 2011 and was appointed to head the company on Aug 15, 2019.

“He has assumed roles including regional director of business development, CEO of group corporate solutions, and president director of AIA Financial Indonesia,” it added.
