KUALA LUMPUR (March 18): Epicon Bhd (formerly known as Konsortium Transnasional Bhd) has secured a main building works contract for a sum of RM191.13 million.
The group, which diversified into the construction industry in 2021, said its wholly owned subsidiary Transnational Builder Sdn Bhd (TBSB) received the letter of award from Maju Teluk Batik Sdn Bhd for the contract.
“With the awarding of this new contract, the total outstanding order book of the company has increased to RM840 million from RM649 million as at Dec 31, 2023,” Epicon said in its filing.
The contract comprises main building works of two apartments, one carpark building, ancillary building, mechanical and electrical services, [and] infrastructure and landscape works for a mixed-use development in Bandar Meru Raya, Perak, it said.
The contract is expected to commence on March 19 and be completed in 36 months, by March 18, 2027.
The group’s construction division has managed to secure several contracts as of late.
In October 2023, TBSB had bagged a contract worth RM130.89 million from Ibrahim & Sons Engineering Sdn Bhd (ISESB) for the installation, testing and commissioning of pipelines, cables and jointing for Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s electrical and flood barrier-related infrastructure.
A month earlier, TBSB secured a contract from Wonson Construction Sdn Bhd for the execution and completion of structural works for a residential apartment in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, for a sum of RM34.5 million.
However, the stage and express bus service operator had said in February that it continues to seek business opportunities in the public transportation services segment, namely in providing stage bus services in other cities or states.
Shares in Epicon settled two sen or 4.82% higher at 43.5 sen on Monday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM255.66 million.
