KUALA LUMPUR (March 15): CelcomDigi Bhd has proposed to change its auditor to PricewaterhouseCoopers PLT (PwC), replacing its retiring auditor Ernst & Young PLT.

In a bourse filing on Friday, the group said it is proposing the change after taking into consideration the profile, adequacy of resources and experience of PwC.

"The appointment of auditors is subject to approval by the shareholders at the upcoming 27th annual general meeting of the company," said CelcomDigi.

Separately, the group announced several boardroom changes, including the redesignation of the Telenor group's representative Haakon Bruaset Kjoel from his post as the group's non-independent and non-executive director to being its non-independent and non-executive deputy chairman.

Kjoel, 52, will replace Petter-Borre Furberg, who has stepped down from the deputy chairmanship following his resignation in Norway-based Telenor ASA, a major shareholder of CelcomDigi, according to its filing.

Furberg, 57, was CelcomDigi's non-independent and non-executive deputy chairman for five months from October 2023.

CelcomDigi has also appointed Kasper Wold Kaarboe as its non-independent and non-executive director to fill the vacancy left by Kjoel.

Both Kaarboe, 46, and Kjoel are representatives of Telenor Malaysia Investments Pte Ltd under the Telenor group. Kaarboe is currently the senior vice-president and head of group performance, reporting and ownership at Telenor ASA.

Shares in CelcomDigi finished 12 sen or 2.8% higher at RM4.41 on Friday, valuing the company at RM51.7 billion.
