KUALA LUMPUR (March 6): Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd said on Wednesday it is providing financing totalling RM253.5 million for construction of a data centre in Cyberjaya, Selangor.
The tawarruq asset financing facilities would back the construction of a so-called tier-three data centre by Pi Data Centre Sdn Bhd (PiDC), Bank Pembangunan said in a statement. The statement however did not provide further details of the data centre, such as the project's power consumption.
"This project will not only pave the way for the development of robust digital infrastructure, but also facilitates the growth of digital workforce, which will enhance Malaysia's capabilities in digital innovation," said Bank Pembangunan chief executive officer Roni Abdulwahab.
Ong Chin Seong, CEO of PiDC and who is also the chairman of the National Tech Association of Malaysia also known as Pikom, said the data centre will "meet the highest standards of efficiency and performance but also serves as a catalyst for environmental sustainability and talent development".
