KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 27): The Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) has appointed its chief financial officer Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi as its interim chief executive officer, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Meanwhile, the chairman’s position is currently helmed by Ministry of Defence secretary general Datuk Seri Isham Ishak in the interim. Isham was previously the deputy chairman of LTAT.

The two positions were left vacant respectively by CEO Datuk Ahmad Nazim Abd Rahman and chairman Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor in January and February, amid a review of LTAT’s strategic plan spearheaded by its management.

Confirming the appointments in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, Khaled, who took over as the defence minister on Dec 12 last year from Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan in a Cabinet reshuffle, said LTAT is operating as usual following the change.

He added that the interim appointments are “not out of the ordinary”, pointing to the resignations of CEOs Datuk Nik Amlizan in 2020 and Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin in 2021.

A list of credible candidates are being finalised for the two roles, where the LTAT chairman will be appointed among the retired armed forces generals, he said.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and LTAT, I assure that the resignations will not impact and interfere with the operations, direction and services of LTAT,” he said.

"The focus of the ministry and LTAT is to ensure that the value savings belonging to Malaysian Armed Forces members continue to be protected and grow, in addition to ensuring the stability and sustainability of LTAT's investment funds for the long term," Khaled added.
