KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 26): Selangor Aviation Show 2024 (SAS 2024) may witness potential transactions worth RM1.3 billion in total take place over the three-day event, Invest Selangor Bhd said on Monday.
The state investment arm expects 30 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to be signed this year for the upcoming SAS 2024, scheduled to be held from Sept 12 to 14, as compared to 28 MOUs in 2023.
“We are optimistic that we can hit the target,” Selangor state exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility Ng Sze Han said in a press conference on Monday.
In order to achieve the target, Invest Selangor is actively promoting SAS 2024 by participating in various regional and international aviation events, according to Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.
Selangor is home to some global aviation companies such as Spirit AeroSystem, which manufactures aircraft structures, and avionics company Honeywell.
“We will be participating in various events related to aviation, whether in Southeast Asia and also in Europe, to ensure that our presence will be continuous in the international arena and also to promote SAS,” Hasan said.
He noted that SAS has also participated in the 2024 Singapore Airshow last week, which has garnered positive interest from potential exhibitors for its own event to be held at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre.
The three-day event is anticipated to involve 25,000 regional participants with 250 participating booths. Last year, SAS attracted a total of 19,217 international and domestic visitors as well as 109 foreign and local companies as exhibitors.
SAS 2024 also expects participation from the US, Denmark, France and Singapore.
