KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 25): Walk down any street in Paris and you will see them: Women who epitomise chic, fun and style. They are authentic, energetic and know what it takes to look good. The same can all be said for French fashion brand Longchamp, founded by Jean Cassegrain in 1948. Now helmed by his grandson who shares the same name, it has a full range of leather goods, accessories, clothing, shoes and eyewear.
Cassegrain, in Kuala Lumpur for the Feb 3 opening of Longchamp’s biggest boutique at The Exchange TRX, talks about the store design — it especially wants to give customers the feeling they are stepping into a Parisian home — keeping up with change and looking forward. With the fourth generation working in the company now, Longchamp looks long-term as it continues to bring out colourful, cool bags known for their workmanship, quality and versatility. Just the thing you would see on the girl from Paris.

Cartier’s Trinity, comprising three intertwined bands of rose, yellow and white gold, remains as mysterious and magical as when Louis Cartier first conceived it in 1974. The French luxury brand, which has interpreted the symbolic circles into rings, bracelets and pendants, marked the Trinity’s centenary this year with back-to-back parties in New York, London and Paris, a celebration that culminated at the last in the Neo-Classical Petit Palais built by Charles Girault between 1897 and 1900 for the 1900 Paris Exposition. Stars and celebrities gathered with global ambassadors and friends of the maison as champagne flowed and dancers performed around great art, befitting the beauty and story of this iconic piece of jewellery.
