EVENING 5: BNM says ringgit’s current level does not reflect positive economic outlook

Here’s a quick look at some of the stories that made headlines today.

Dirty dealings. Corporate battles. Consumer woes. Here are five things you need to know today.

1. The ringgit’s current level does not reflect the positive outlook of the Malaysian economy, the central bank said on Tuesday, as the currency dropped to its lowest since 1998.

2. CelcomDigi Bhd is now focusing on average revenue per account instead of average revenue per user mainly for its postpaid plan.

3. Supermax Corp Bhd reported a net loss of RM44.36 million for its second quarter extending the group's loss-making streak to five consecutive quarters.

4. Swift Haulage Bhd is expecting its warehousing business to grow further to contribute up to 25% of its total revenue in the next three to five years, from 15% currently.

5. Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd reported a 45% surge in its net profit for the second quarter of financial year 2024, driven by higher average realised oil prices and lower operating costs.
