KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): The Securities Commission Malaysia's Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting (ACSR) is seeking public feedback on the proposed sustainability disclosure standards issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB Standards).
It wants feedback on key issues including the scope and timing for implementation, the transition reliefs required, and issues related to assurance for sustainability disclosures.
The committee said in a statement that it aims to identify enablers that will facilitate the implementation of the ISSB Standards — particularly on requirements for disclosure of sustainability-related financial information and climate-related disclosures — as it serves as a baseline standard for the country's National Sustainability Reporting Framework.
"While the primary focus is on listed issuers and large non-listed companies, the ACSR strongly encourages participation from mid-tier companies and SMEs to ensure a comprehensive understanding of industry needs and challenges.
"In addition to commercial entities, feedback from information users such as investors, rating agencies, interested organisations and those providing assurance services is crucial to ensuring an inclusive consultation process," the committee said.
The public consultation period, which started on Thursday, will conclude on March 21, 2024.
The consultation paper is available here.
