KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): Bursa Malaysia was mixed at midday, with the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) falling 0.08% due to selling pressure in selected counters led by IOI Corp Bhd, CelcomDigi Bhd and Petronas Dagangan Bhd. 

However, market breadth remained positive as gainers outnumbered losers.

At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) erased 1.2 points to 1,528.13 from Wednesday's close of 1,529.33.

The barometer index, which opened 0.04 of a point easier at 1,529.29 in the morning, moved between 1,525.39 and 1,532.66 during the session.

Gainers led losers in the broader market 465 to 362, while 434 counters were unchanged, 1,038 untraded and 10 others suspended.

Turnover amounted to 2.12 billion units worth RM1.1 billion.

The local bourse bucked the regional trend, while regional peers traded higher.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.99% to 38,075.43, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng improved 0.43% to 15,947.63 and Singapore’s Strait Times was 0.9% better at 3,167.44.

CelcomDigi down three sen to RM4.23, Petronas Dagangan erased 28 sen to RM21.98 and IOI was three sen easier at RM3.99. These counters contributed to a drop of 1.35 points in the composite index.

Other heavyweights, Maybank Bhd fell one sen to RM9.39, Public Bank Bhd was flat at RM4.40, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd erased a sen to RM6.36 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd was unchanged at RM11.06. 

As for the actives, Hong Seng Consolidated Bhd flat at two sen, SMTrack Bhd added a sen to 5.5 sen, TWL Holdings Bhd advanced half a sen to four sen, Minetec Resources Bhd improved a sen to 16 sen and Sarawak Cable Bhd was 4.5 sen better 20.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index added 0.98 of a point to 11,359.84, the FBM 70 Index gained 28.45 points to 15,343.38, the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 6.44 points up to 11,389.85 and the FBM ACE Index picked up 36.06 points to 4,878.65. 

But the FBMT 100 Index fell 1.3 points to 11,013.98.

Sector-wise, the Property Index inched up 1.41 points to 923.34, the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.7 of a point to 174.79.

However, the Plantation Index fell 10.71 points to 7,224.74, the Energy Index went down 1.64 points to 889.07 and the Financial Services Index lost 18.36 points to 17,137.01.
