KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 8): Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) has achieved a new quayside move record, handling 13,725 moves in a single 12-hour shift, surpassing its previous record of 13,700 moves set in 2023.
This milestone enables PTP to establish a new 24-hour movement record of 27,290 quayside moves or 43,664 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
In a statement, PTP Chief Executive Officer Mark Hardiman said this achievement solidifies PTP’s position as Malaysia's largest transshipment hub terminal.
“PTP’s strategic approach to continuously enhance efficiency and optimize its footprint has played a crucial role in maintaining the terminal’s competitive advantage in an increasingly global market.
"Our efforts to grow are accompanied by significant emphasis on port asset upgrades and infrastructure aligned with our ESG agenda and digital strategy roadmap.
“This achievement is not possible without the outstanding dedication and commitment from everyone to establish the right and sustainable business conditions for our day-to-day operations, focusing on delivering the best customer services to all stakeholders,” said Hardiman.
PTP is a joint venture between MMC Corp Bhd (70%) and APM Terminals (30%), a global ports group with 67 port and terminal facilities.
As Malaysia’s largest transshipment hub, PTP has the capacity to handle 13 million TEUs annually, currently ranking 15th among the world's top container ports.
The port serves major shipping lines and box operators, providing extensive connectivity to the global market for shippers in Malaysia and abroad.
