KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd has lifted the garden leave for chief financial officer (CFO) Mazatul ‘Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar, effective from Feb 1.
In a filing on Wednesday, the sugar refinery company said she would resume her duties as CFO.
Mazatul ‘Aini's garden leave was initially set from Oct 20 to Dec 15, 2023. At that time, MSM stated that it was to facilitate an ongoing internal investigation.
The leave was first prolonged to Jan 15, 2024, and further extended to Feb 15, 2024, or until the board provides further notice.
However, the latest filing did not elaborate further on the reason for lifting the garden leave earlier or provide information on the outcome of the internal investigation that Mazatul ‘Aini was facing.
Mazatul ‘Aini assumed the role of the group’s CFO on Dec 1, 2022. Before this position, she served as an independent non-executive director at 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd and TH Heavy Engineering Bhd, acting as an audit committee member for both companies. Additionally, she held the position of an independent non-executive director at IJN Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Shares in MSM closed eight sen or 3.51% higher at RM2.36, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.66 billion.
