KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): Yinson Holdings Bhd’s green technologies arm is to expand the use of its smart electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure application chargEV into Brunei. The app is set raise the number of chargers offered to motorists on the platform across Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore to over 1,000.

This came after Yinson’s subsidiary Yinson GreenTech inked an agreement with Brunei’s leading charge point operator BEV Charging Company to integrate charge points across the nation into the chargEV app.

“The agreement was inked in a signing ceremony at the satellite showroom of Maju Motor Sdn Bhd in the Mall Gadong, where Brunei’s first charger was installed in November 2023 by Maju Motors, who is the authorised dealer for BYD in Brunei, and BEV, who is the authorised charge point operator,” Yinson GreenTech, BEV and Maju Motors said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

“These charge points will be integrated into the chargEV app in about two weeks’ time, with more charge points to follow suit in the coming months,” they added.

According to the statement, Yinson GreenTech’s deal with BEV follows a similar partnership with Singapore’s leading charge point operator ComfortDelGro ENGIE back in October last year, which paved the way for the largest combined charging network across Singapore and Malaysia.

“With the addition of BEV’s charge points in Brunei and the plans of all parties to expand their respective networks, users of the chargEV app can look forward to more convenience and greater access to a growing network of chargers across all three countries,” the statement read.

Yinson shares closed three sen or 1.18% higher at RM2.57, giving the floating, production, storage and offloading contractor a market capitalisation of RM7.88 billion.
