KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 24): Tanjong Karang Member of Parliament (MP) and Bersatu member Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi has officially pledged his support for Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the sixth and latest Bersatu lawmaker to do so.

In a statement on Wednesday, Zulkafperi said he still remains a loyal Bersatu member and that he had not been compelled to support Anwar but is doing so after realising the need for political stability and smooth recovery of the country’s economy.

“I also want to express support for the Madani government’s policies and initiatives that prioritise the welfare, development, economy and interests of the people, until the next general election (GE16).

“This decision was made to ensure the fate and development in my parliamentary constituency continues and that the people will benefit from the development of public infrastructure and local needs,” he said.

Others who had previously voiced their support of Anwar were Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang).
