KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 15): Former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin did not show up for his meeting with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Monday as he was unwell, according to a source.
The source said the meeting at the MACC headquarters to record his statement in connection with the agency's investigations into the tycoon's assets has now been postponed, with a new date not known as yet.
Last month, the MACC announced that it had seized llham Tower, a commercial property in the golden triangle area of Kuala Lumpur owned by Daim's family.
The former minister and businessman's wife Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, and two of their sons, were questioned by the MACC last week.
Daim himself had issued a statement earlier this month denying any wrongdoing to warrant him being subjected to MACC investigations.
Na’imah was said to have been quizzed for nine hours. Prior to being interrogated by the MACC, she told reporters that her husband was being persecuted for his wealth and success, and that being a successful businessman was not a crime.
