KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 5): MyEG Services Bhd said it will be resuming online temporary work permit (PLKS) renewal services for foreign workers on Jan 15.

The e-government services provider said the service relaunch follows the completion of system enhancements mandated in the Home Ministry's letter granting an extension of the service.

"With the resumption, users can visit www.myeg.com.my starting Jan 15 to apply for the renewal of PLKS for domestic maids and foreign workers," the company said in a statement on Friday.

MyEG's three-year concession for immigration-related services was initially set to conclude in May last year, following an extension from May 2020. Subsequently, the group said it had received a letter dated July 4 from the Home Ministry to confirm that the Ministry of Finance had agreed to an extension of the concession.

However, the group faced scrutiny after Kota Melaka Member of Parliament Khoo Poay Tiong alleged that MyEG had been illegally collecting fees for foreign worker permit renewal even after its services had been suspended by the government since February.

MyEG denied misrepresenting immigration services on its online platform.

On Oct 16 last year, MyEG said it has received a two-year extension of its immigration-related services contract, contingent upon the completion of system enhancements before resuming applications for the services.

Shares in MyEG settled unchanged at 78 sen on Friday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM5.93 billion.
