SEPANG (Jan 5): Capital A Bhd’s aviation arm AirAsia Aviation Group announced one-way fixed low fares to Sarawak at RM298 and Sabah at RM348 from Feb 5 to Feb 15 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive season.
The latest promotional campaign involves seven destinations between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu or Miri, as well as between Johor Bahru and Kuching, Sibu or Miri at RM298 one-way.
For destinations between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan or Tawau, and between Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu are priced at RM348 one-way, said group CEO Bo Lingam on Friday.
These one-way fixed low fares tickets will be fulfilled by AirAsia’s additional 134 late-night flights between the Feb 5 and Feb 15 period.
Bo Lingam said this initiative will add 25,000 seats for the upcoming festive period.
“We thank the government for their steadfast encouragement, which empowers us to continue making travel accessible for all, ensuring families can reunite joyfully and affordably during this important time,” he said.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said AirAsia’s fixed low fares initiative is also in line with the government’s FLYsiswa programme to subsidise RM300 for the purchase of flight tickets for public university students and the RM599 base-fare subsidy scheme for the purchase of one-way economy class flight tickets to East Malaysia as announced last year.
“This synergy between the government and industry players is essential for fostering a robust and dynamic aviation sector that contributes significantly to the overall progress and prosperity of the nation.
“Thus, we look forward to continuously working with all industry stakeholders for the better welfare of all Malaysians,” said the minister.
