KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir is stepping down as the independent non-executive chairman of loss-making Scanwolf Corp Bhd, effective from Dec 31.

In a bourse filing on Friday, Scanwolf cited "other work commitments" as the reason for Syed Zainal’s resignation.

He was appointed to the board of the group, which is involved in designing and manufacturing plastic extrusion products as well as property development, on Nov 5, 2021.

Syed Zainal, 61, is currently the executive chairman of Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) and DNeX’s strategic investment arm, SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

For the first financial quarter ended Sept 30, 2023, Scanwolf saw its net loss widen to RM3.6 million, from RM2.66 million in the previous year’s corresponding quarter, as revenue declined 19.9% to RM7.73 million from RM9.65 million.

Shares in Scanwolf closed unchanged at 50 sen on Friday, valuing the group at RM100.05 million.
