KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 28): The High Court has fixed Feb 21 to hear the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s application to oppose the production of his former research assistant Muhammad Yusoff Rawther's polygraph report, which is part of Yusoff's discovery application to the suit he filed against Anwar.
The AGC is representing the police in this matter.
The date was fixed on Thursday (Dec 28) by High Court senior assistant registrar Syalia Ain Zainuddin, who said the hearing on Feb 21 would be before High Court judge Dr Johan Lee Kien How.
Syalia Ain directed parties to file their written submissions by Jan 15.
Anwar was represented by his counsel Navpreet Singh during case management.
On Sept 22, Yusoff had filed a third-party discovery application against the police and the director of the Criminal Investigation Department, in which he sought the polygraph test report done by the police on Dec 17, 2019.
The report followed Yusoff allegation of sexual assault done by Anwar on Oct 2, 2018.
Yusoff filed a suit against Anwar in July 2021 alleging sexual assault by the PKR president in 2018.
In his statement of claim, he alleged that the sexual assault took place on Oct 2, 2018 in Anwar’s residence in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.
The former research assistant claimed that following the alleged sexual assault and him lodging a police report on it, he was accused of plotting to bring down Anwar and damage the PKR president's political career.
The alleged sexual assault and the accusation have affected his mental health, he claimed.
As such, Yusoff is seeking from Anwar special, general, aggravated and exemplary damages, as well as interest, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.
Following the suit, Anwar has also filed a counterclaim against Yusoff.
