KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 22): Construction outfit TRC Synergy Bhd has secured a RM23.8 million contract from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) to design and build a flood mitigation dam in Gombak, Selangor.

In a bourse filing on Friday, TRC Synergy said its wholly-owned subsidiary Trans Resources Corp Sdn Bhd had on Thursday received the letter of acceptance from the department.

“Barring unforeseen circumstances, the board is of the opinion that the project will contribute positively to the group's earnings and earnings per share in the future,” it said.

No further details of the contract were disclosed.

For the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2023 (3QFY2023), TRC Synergy posted a 94.9% rise in net profit to RM5.88 million from RM3.02 million a year earlier on the back of higher other income — which included a fair value gain on investment property and gain on disposal of property, plant and equipment amounting to RM2.5 million and RM2.21 million respectively.

Quarterly revenue was up 5.2% to RM144.89 million from RM137.77 million in 3QFY2022.

Shares in TRC Synergy ended unchanged at 35.5 sen on Friday, valuing the group at RM170.58 million.
