KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 20): Minconsult Sdn Bhd has received approval from the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for its near-term greenhouse gasses (GHG) emissions reduction targets.

This makes it the first engineering and construction sector consultancy in Southeast Asia and the third company to receive such approval from the initiative, it said in a statement.

“The SBTi validates ambitious emissions reduction plans aligned with climate science, aiming for a 50% cut by 2030 and net-zero by 2050.

“The SBTi’s arduous review and clearance process requires, among other materials, detailed data in support of applicant submissions, as well as an assessment of the applicant’s professional reputation, including for past project deliverables,” said the firm.

Minconsult has projects in over 27 countries that encompass a variety of engineering and infrastructure fields, and also advises governments and institutions on policy.
