KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): Sungai Klang Link Sdn Bhd (SKL) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MTD Construction Sdn Bhd (MTDC) to participate in the development and construction of a 53-kilometer (km) highway project, which is expected to run along the Klang River.
With the aim of enhancing connectivity and accessibility within the region, it is planned to incorporate seven proposed interchanges, commencing in Klang with an interchange at the West Coast Expressway and concluding at the New Pantai Expressway 2 (NPE 2) interchange.
In a statement on Friday, SKL said it proposed this elevated highway project to the government and is currently in the final stages of approval by the government.
"As we continue to push the boundaries in transportation infrastructure, we are thrilled to embark on this transformative journey alongside MTD Construction Sdn Bhd.
"This partnership marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering impactful solutions for the nation's infrastructure needs," said SKL chief executive officer Datuk Haji Mohd Nazri Ismail.
MTDC general manager and head of construction division Ahmad Tarmizi Ismail said the company is excited about the possibilities this partnership holds.
“Combining our expertise with SKL's vision, we aim to create an elevated highway that not only connects communities but also sets a benchmark for sustainable and efficient transportation solutions,” he added.
MTDC is one of MTD Group's subsidiary companies.
