KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 4): AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) has signed an aircraft lease agreement with Asia Aviation Capital Ltd in a related party transaction for a one-year lease of an aircraft bearing MSN1596, with the total contract value — including lease rental and maintenance reserves — estimated at RM30.54 million.

According to AAX's Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday, Asia Aviation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AirAsia Bhd, which is in turn a wholly-owned subsidiary of Capital A Bhd.

“The additional aircraft is in the same cabin configuration as AAX’s existing fleet, allowing a seamless transition into the fleet.

“The transactions will not have any material financial impact on the company and/or its subsidiaries (Group) in the financial year ending December 31, 2023 (FY2023) nor will it have any effect on the share capital and substantial shareholders’ shareholdings of AAX,” it said.

Shares in Capital A ended unchanged at 84 sen, valuing the company at RM3.50 billion. Since the beginning of the year, the stock has surged 28.46%.

Meanwhile, shares in AAX settled four sen or 2.04% lower to RM1.92, giving it a market capitalisation of RM858.38 million. Year to date, the stock has risen 220%.
