KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 29): A total of 213 Members of Parliament (MPs) and six senators, who are members of the administration, have undergone health screening so far, while eight have not, according to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
Johari urged the eight MPs to do so at the earliest and to contact the clinic in the Parliament building.
Failure to comply will result in the names of these MPs being made public on Dec 1, 2023, Johari stated before the start of proceedings in Parliament on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Johari said that he received a request from the Minister of Unity regarding the proposal for the full recitation of the Rukun Negara, starting with the preamble and followed by the five principles in Dewan Rakyat.
“I brought this proposal to the committee on Nation Building, Education and Human Resource Development, and the committee on Parliamentary Standing Orders for consideration. Both of these committees have agreed to implement the recitation of the Rukun Negara in the Dewan Rakyat,” he added.
Thus, he announced that the Rukun Negara will be recited at every opening session of the Dewan Rakyat sitting, which occurs on the second day of the first meeting of every Dewan Rakyat session.
