KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 24): Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has appointed former MISC Bhd President and Group CEO Datuk Yee Yang Chien as its non-independent director effective immediately.

Yee retired from the shipping company in September last year.

“During his tenure with MISC, he led the execution of MISC Group's strategies and managed the overall businesses and operations of the group. He also led corporate exercises which included mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and divestments, corporate bond issuance, initial public offering and incubated/launched technological/digital start-ups,” Maybank said in a bourse filing.

It added that Yee is a nominee of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), a substantial shareholder of Maybank.

Maybank shares closed unchanged at RM9.09 on Friday, valuing the fourth largest bank in Southeast Asia at RM109.63 billion.
