EVENING 5: Malaysia’s 3Q GDP expands 3.3%

1. Malaysia’s economy, as measured by gross domestic product, grew 3.3% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2023, and remains on track to achieving its 4% growth target. 

2. The Employees Provident Fund registered a total investment income of RM47.86 billion for the nine-month period ended Sept 30, 2023, a 33% year-on-year increase.

3. Affin Bank Bhd saw a steep earnings contraction for its third quarter ended Sept 30 mainly due to a previous one-off gain. 

4. CelcomDigi Bhd's net profit rose 32.66% quarter-on-quarter, helped by lower regulatory and network related costs and lower marketing spend.

5.  Media Chinese International Ltd expects to record losses attributable to owners of the company of up to US$5.5 million.
