KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 23): Mah Sing Foundation (MSF) has raised RM5 million at a fundraising charity night recently, which is set to support various recipients through sustainable programmes focused on holistic education, health and economic empowerment.

Among those present at the charity event last Saturday (Oct 21) were Local Government Development deputy minister Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Mah Sing Foundation chairman Datuk Indera Syed Norulzaman Syed Kamarulzaman, Mah Sing Group Bhd chairman admiral (R) Tan Sri Panglima Abu Bakar Abdul Jamal and Mah Sing Group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.

Syed Norulzaman noted that the fundraising will enable the foundation to continue its mission of creating lasting positive impact in the lives of those in need through existing and new programmes.

“MSF experienced its most challenging trial since its inception during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. It disrupted many of our plans and initiatives. However, we did not rest on our laurels. We continued to work tirelessly with our long-time strategic partner, Mah Sing Group, to assist the underserved communities economically and socially. Together, we collaborated with various strategic partners and government agencies, collectively donated over RM5.5 million and positively impacted more than 200,000 individuals from 2020 to 2022.”

Notable contributions during this period include providing 20 heavy-duty critical care ventilators to the National Disaster Management Agency, which were subsequently distributed to ten government hospitals nationwide. Additionally, 150,000 face masks were distributed to frontliners from various government agencies, and RM440,000 worth of food aid was delivered to ten non-governmental organisations and underserved communities.

The beneficiaries of MSF’s charity night include Community At Heart, Havan Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Hopes Malaysia, IDEAS Autism Centre, Inspira Comm, Persatuan Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa (WeCare), Rotary Club of Sentul, Taylor’s University, Thrive Well, Women of Will and Yayasan Generasi Gemilang.
