KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): Ecofirst Consolidated Bhd announced Datuk Teoh Seng Kian as its executive director and said he has ceased to be its alternate director, effective today (Sept 14).
He is brother to Datuk Dr Teoh Seng Foo, who is the president and executive director of the company; and is also the brother of Teoh Seng Aun, who is the director of Ecofirst’s major subsidiaries, as well as a substantial shareholder.
Seng Kian, 63, was appointed as alternate director to Seng Foo on Dec 1, 2009, according to its bourse filing on Thursday.
He has been trimming his shares since a year ago in August 2022, when he held 132.00 million shares, representing an 11.29% stake and was a substantial shareholder in the company. As of July 2023, he held 64 million shares (a 5.30% stake).
Seng Kian had earlier been with Meridian Bhd since 1993, when he joined as its group project director. He later became Meridian's executive director and managing director until his resignation on July 31, 2019.
He had initially started his career with an Australian company specialising in manufacturing of building materials. He later served as director in a company involved in quarrying and infrastructure construction after returning to Malaysia.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Sydney, Australia.
Ecofirst shares closed lower by 0.5 sen or 1.45% to 34 sen on Thursday. Its market capitalisation stood at RM416.73 million.
