KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 25): Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has appointed Selvendran Katheerayson as a non-independent and non-executive director of the group, effective Sept 1.

Selvendran, 52, will replace Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin, 49, who will be stepping down to pursue other interests, according to the utility giant’s filing with Bursa Malaysia on Friday (Aug 25).

Selvendran currently is the executive director and head for Khazanah’s real assets and property. He joined the country’s strategic investment arm in January 2006.

“Prior to joining Khazanah, he has worked at Motorola Inc and Maxis Communications Bhd. He started his career at Ernst & Young in June 1994,” TNB said.

Selvendran is also the non-independent and non-executive director of telecommunications company Time dotCom Bhd.

Meanwhile, following Amran’s resignation, TNB also announced the resignation of Elaine Ong Yee Lynn, 39, as an alternate director to Amran, effective Sept 1.

Amran was appointed to TNB’s board in June 2017. He is currently the executive director and head for Khazanah’s Malaysian investments.

Shares in TNB closed three sen or 0.30% lower at RM9.97 on Friday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM57.70 billion.
