KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 27): In our cover story this week, ten young leaders of property development companies in the country share what Merdeka means to them, what they love about their country and their hopes for Malaysia. They also highlight the challenges affecting the nation and property industry.
Some of the main messages they shared include how much they value the diversity of our multicultural society and how important staying united and working together is for the nation’s growth and progress.
In the same issue, Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) praises the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia for two initiatives that are hailed as game changers by contractors — roll-out of the new CIDB Standard Form of Contract and registration of the CIDB Construction Mediation Centre under MBAM, which will operate from the new MBAM headquarters in Putra Heights once completed next year.
Stadium Merdeka, the heritage stadium where the formal declaration of independence of the Federation of Malaya was made on Aug 31, 1957, is being restored and preserved by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB). It will reopen to the public in 1Q2024.
Based on a survey City & Country did from Aug 8 to 15, we found that almost half of respondents preferred not to be property owners, and that the desire for flexible living and freedom from long-term investment commitments has become increasingly prevalent in today’s society.
According to our Singapore counterpart, sales at new project launches hit a new low on a recent weekend as home hunters are spoilt for choice with the comparatively higher number of units sold before August.
Read all these in the August 28 issue of City & Country.
