KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 14): KGW Group Bhd, which debuted on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia just two weeks ago on Aug 1, has joined forces with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) to establish an enterprise trade hub, an e-commerce system for the university's students to get hands-on learning experience in the world of logistics and e-commerce.
The trade hub will function as a learning centre for import and export trades via online platforms like eBay, Amazon, and Etsy, specifically targeting the US market. By working closely with KGW Group, UTHM students will gain an understanding of global supply chain management and e-commerce ecosystems, said the group.
For the collaboration, the logistic service provider said its wholly owned subsidiary KGW Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd had inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with UTHM and Infinite Victory Consultancy Sdn Bhd (IVCSB), a spin-off company of UTHM.
The MOA took effect on Sunday (Aug 13), and will be in force for three years.
Under the MOA, KGW Logistics’ responsibilities are to build an e-commerce ecosystem for UTHM’s students to be involved in e-business and import and export businesses through IVCSB, and to build an e-commerce hub on campus to support entrepreneurship programmes.
The collaboration sets a benchmark for educational institutions, and highlights Johor's commitment to be at the forefront of technological and educational advancements, said KGW Group.
KGW Group closed two sen or 9.52% higher to settle at 23 sen a share on Monday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM111 million.
Compared to its initial public offering price of 21 sen, the stock has gained 9.52%.
