KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 12): Perikatan Nasional (PN) won all 32 state seats in Terengganu in the state election on Saturday (Aug 12), after the coalition won all eight federal seats nine months ago.
Terengganu, whose Malay voters make up 96.7% of the state's electorate, were happy to hand PN full control of its state legislative assembly.
Almost all the state seats were won by a margin of over two thousand votes, except for Telemung which saw a 295 majority.
PAS took home 27 seats — more than a two-thirds majority — while Bersatu won the other five.
Terengganu's caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (PN-PAS) retained his Ru Rendang seat with a majority of 17,286 votes, defeating Suhaimi Sulaiman (PH-Amanah).
Ru Rendang was a seat held by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang for 36 years before he relinquished it to his political secretary Ahmad Samsuri in 2018.
