KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 3): Former Sarawak state secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani has resigned from the board of Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd after serving as a non-independent and non-executive director for nearly nine years.

Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, the current Sarawak state secretary, is succeeding Mohamad Morshidi as non-independent and non-executive director with effect from Thursday (Aug 3), according to the Bintulu Port's bourse filing.

Mohamad Morshidi, 66, started his civil service career as a director of Kuching North City Hall. He was with DBKU for 10 years until 1998, before he was promoted to a senior position in the Chief Minister's Department, where he stayed for three years.

In 2001, he was appointed as permanent secretary in Sarawak's Social Development and Urbanisation Ministry. Subsequently, he was appointed as director for the state planning unit of Sarawak before being promoted as deputy state secretary. He was then promoted as state secretary in 2009, a post he held until 2019.

In a separate filing, Bintulu Port announced the resignation of Datuk Seri Mohamed Khalid Yusuf@Yusup as an independent and non-executive director in the group, effective from July 21.  

Shares in Bintulu Port closed unchanged at RM5.05, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM2.32 billion.
