En route to decarbonising road transport, the government has pledged to ease concerns related to the limited availability of charging infrastructure by incentivising businesses to build charging networks. Through these initiatives, 125,000 public charging stations are expected to be constructed and installed to accommodate the increase of battery-powered electric vehicles (EV), which are likely to reach 102,000 units by 2030.

Start-ups, private companies and property developers have been working on establishing charging stations in various urban areas and townships across the country. To help consumers locate these charging points conveniently, all-in-one apps have emerged as essential tools.

These apps provide real-time information on nearby charging stations and port availability. These apps use GPS technology to display charging points on a map, allowing users to plan their routes more efficiently and ensure they have access to charging facilities during their journeys. Additionally, these apps often include details such as charging station types, charging speeds, and even user reviews to help consumers make informed decisions.

Some EV apps offer features that go beyond charging station location. These apps are integrated with a payment gateway, allow users to book charging ports ahead of time, provide local incentives for EV owners, and even give personalised driving statistics that can help users optimise their driving habits for better range and energy efficiency.

Hopefully, the ability to access charging station information and other essential resources at one’s fingertips will ensure that the transition to EVs is a viable and seamless option for many. As this technology continues to evolve, the future of sustainable transport looks increasingly promising.
