KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): Baker Tilly Malaysia, one of the largest accounting and advisory firms in the country, is expanding its network by adding Melaka-based professional services firm Sim & Teo PLT.

Sim & Teo was founded by Sim Lian Hing and Teo Siok Kee in 1991. It was started in Melaka before its operation was expanded into Segamat, Johor.

“Now, as part of the Baker Tilly Malaysia network, Sim & Teo will be able to further enhance its capabilities and offerings, particularly in supporting companies on their journey towards listing on Bursa Malaysia,” Baker Tilly said in a statement on Friday (July 21).

Baker Tilly Malaysia, one of the largest firms of Reporting Accountants in Malaysia — with 17 completed listings on Bursa since the pandemic and five initial public offerings (IPOs) so far in 2023 — highlighted that with the addition of Sim & Teo into its network, the firm could assist companies in Melaka in their IPO process.

"With Sim & Teo now officially part of the Baker Tilly Malaysia network, Melaka now has Baker Tilly Malaysia’s Corporate Recovery arm, which is one of the largest corporate recovery firms in the country at their doorsteps," it said.

Sim, managing partner of Sim & Teo, said the partnership is not only strategic but also aligns with the firm’s values, especially with the influx of young and dynamic talents into the workforce, who want to be part of something bigger.
